Jim and Joanna's 2004 Summary and Pics
Since last year’s Thanksgiving letter, we have had an unbelievably active year. In December we spent a week on the slopes of Heavenly Valley, helped plan and celebrate Jim’s sister Claire and husband Roy’s 50th year of marriage commencement, and hosted a wonderful piano recital by Jim’s brother Tom.
January found us completing the remodel of a rental unit in Ocean Beach. February was spent helping daughter Andrea and family move into their new house in Brentwood, New Hampshire, helping Sarene rewire her cottage in the woods, and spending a glorious week on the slopes of Beaver Creek, Colorado. March found us at a son of close friends’ wedding on the big island of Hawaii, followed by another week at Heavenly Valley (the $299 annual pass got lots of use!), and a week in Seattle surrounding the Gonzaga NCAA tournament games. In April Joanna drove with Andrea and the 4 grandsons from New Hampshire to Alabama to attend the baptism of Andrew, the newborn son of her brother George and wife Susanne.
In May we traveled to France and Italy with close friends and managed to attend the Monte Carlo time trials, the Cannes Film Festival, visit Joanna’s cousin in Venice, hike CinqueTerre and experience incredible cuisine across the two countries. At the end of June we flew to Louisville for the International Barbershop Convention and Competition and stayed at our former neighbors. This brought back wonderful memories..Prospect, Kentucky sure has grown!July was wedding month, first in Cincinnati for the son of close friends, followed by son Tyler’s wedding to Tia Anzellotti in San Diego on the 17th. We thoroughly enjoyed the festivities and getting to know Tia’s family. August found us on a golf and touring trip in the Northwest, traveling with and visiting close friends and family in Montana, Idaho and Washington.
September found us at cousin Ryan and Sarah’s wedding, and cruising the eastern Mediterranean on the Wind Spirit, where we sailed the Greek Isles from Istanbul to Athens.
Late October we spent in New Hampshire with both daughters and Andrea’s family to celebrate a few birthdays, including the big six-oh for Joanna. The trip was cut short as Jim’s stepmother Connie died after some post surgery complications. We helped set up and attended memorials in Seal Beach and Butte Montana. Christmas holidays will be spent in New Hampshire with nearly all of our family.
May this season find you all healthy and in great spirits!
Much Love,
